Shri. Jayan N Director, LPSC, ISRO

                Shri Jayan N, Outstanding Scientist assumed the charge of Director, Liquid Propulsion Systems Centre on 1st July 2026. Before becoming Director LPSC, he held several key positions like Associate Director, LPSC, Deputy Director - Earth Storable Engines & Stages Entity, Project Director - Next Generation Launch Vehicle Project at VSSC, Project Director - LME-KT project, Project Director - Cryogenic Upper Stage Project, Group Director - Cryogenic and Semicryogenic Propulsion Engines Group etc.

He has played a key role in the successful development of the first indigenous Cryogenic Engine (CUS engine). He also led the team which developed the CE20 cryogenic engine which is successfully flying in LVM3 vehicle. He has also made significant contributions for the design of 2000kN thrust Semicryogenic engine and the 1100kN LOX-Methane engine. As PD-NGLV, he has played a major role in finalizing the configuration of future launch vehicles- NGLV and LMLV.

He completed B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering from College of Engineering Trivandrum with first rank and ME in Aerospace Engineering from Indian Institute of Science with first rank and Gold Medal. He is the recipient of the Astronautical Space Gold Medal-2009 and ISRO team awards in the years 2008, 2013 and 2016. Considering his meritorious contributions to the Indian Space Programme, Government of India has given the ‘Rashtriya Vigyan Puraskar-2025’ in the field of Space Technology, which is the highest award in the area of Science and Technology in the country. He received the award from Honorable President of India.
